This is only a small part of Adam’s post (and you should read the whole thing) but never let anybody try to redirect your criticism of fascist or hateful rhetoric to a private medium. Never ever. Fascism must be aired publicly. People must understand the consequences.

@davidcelis Just finished reading and WHEW that’s an uncomfortable recap. I backed micro blog back in the day (and never spun up an account) but I always viewed Manton as a “good guy” for helping make the internet good for the rest of us.

WELP

Ambiguous views, gaslighting, and deflection…these are “piece of shit person" antics. I hope he finds peace.

@davidcelis @adam Though the context was race and not gender identity, MLK’s words in “Letter from Birmingham Jail” seem very applicable here. Last summer it became clear to me that Manton cared deeply about order and not at all about justice.

“Nice” people will be the death of us all.

@dwineman @davidcelis I really appreciate you sharing this, because it puts into words something I’ve been feeling but haven’t yet been able to express. When Manton kept trying to dismiss my concerns with sentiments like “we have more in common than you think” and “we should be working together”, I was irritated with with how he was missing the point entirely. But now I realize, thanks to you (and Dr. King), that he was only concerned with order, and I was entirely concerned with justice.

@dwineman @samf @adam like Adam said, thanks for sharing this. it’s been a long time since i read the Birmingham Jail letter and it only ever gets more relevant.
