i just learned that Bluesky at some point started requiring posts from the API to specify an aspectRatio for all images and… come on. i’ve literally never had to do this for any other platform, not even photo-driven ones like instagram. why does this API/protocol have to be so unfriendly

When you’re constantly fighting type errors you start to think everyone else should be fighting them too. A stricter world. A safer world. A sadder world.
i’ve just never seen a platform that makes you calculate something like this yourself. every other platform i’ve ever used does their own analysis
